Oak & Iron House is located just a mile from Bellevue Square at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Medina. Thoughtfully crafted with a Mid-Century Modern palette, while embracing advanced industry materials and 21st century technology. This 5,200sf site-responsive custom home, in collaboration with Métrica Architects, focuses on a structurally open floorplan held in steel, creating extraordinary volume and light emphasized with clerestory windows, floating stairs and skylight clusters. Exceptional entertainment spaces suited for any time of the year with no shortage of covered and heated outdoor dining and living areas, and walls of glass expanding the public space footprint, creating a warm and captivating atmosphere perfect for classic PNW summer nights. A practical layout for one or many with five bedrooms, theater room, gym (or sixth bedroom), media loft, outdoor kitchen, office, and three-car garage. Perfectly positioned a few blocks from the best schools Bellevue has to offer. One-of-a-kind privacy and serenity near the heart of the city.
iron
Why do we call it Oak & Iron House? Because we use a lot of iron. Structural steel posts and beams, metal staircases and railings, and a metal clad fireplace. We even wrapped the round metal posts and stair stringers with another layer of metal plates to make them square.
oak and warmth
To offset the steel in the house, we use white oak hardwood floors throughout the house, creating warmth. We also use bronze and gold fixtures and hardwares, and walnut veneer cabinets to soften the space.
brightness
When you step inside the house, you’ll feel the brightness and air of space because of the big windows and skylights. The foyer has a series of skylights and full height windows in the second-floor hallway to bring in lots of light. We also add skylights in the master closet and bathroom so you don’t need to turn on the lights during the day.

Matte finish gold cabinet handles blend in with grain match walnut veneer cabinets by Bellmont.
function and flow
When we design a kitchen, we don’t just drop in the appliances at random locations, we always think about the function and flow before placing each appliance at its best location.
comfort
The master suite has two sitting areas: one right at the entry with a window behind which frames the outdoor greenery, and another by the see-through fireplace that can be used on the outside deck. The outside deck can also be accessed from the loft. All these areas are great to read books or enjoy some quiet space to be alone.
entertainment
The house is designed to entertain. A 20-foot LaCantina door can be opened fully from the living room to a heated outdoor patio and a NanaWall accordion window creates connection between the kitchen and patio. The theater room and gym have exterior access to the back yard.
